Silence, it turns ...
The apple-wind is a wind turbine with vertical axis Darrieus type, the name of the french engineer who invented this concept around 1930.
Technological innovations AW turbines are:
- New geometry of the rotor which, by removing the central mast and thanks to leverage technology - magnetic level, improves performance by reducing turbulence, which was the subject of a first patent
- New profile blade designed for superior performance, which was the subject of a second patent
- Significant use of composite materials and recyclable materialsto optimize weight, inertia and the carbon balance
The whole AW concept allows it to differentiate from other wind solutions:
- AW is omnidirectional: it captures the wind regardless of its direction, including in swirling air flow and is therefore particularly well suited to urban
- The wind turbine AW is reactive: it does not need to move, and starts its rotation with weak winds
- AW wind turbine settled in all types of sites: on the terrace, roof, pole
- It is silent and does not cause damage to birds, because of its slower rotation at equivalent power
- AW wind turbine is even more secure: each blade has 4 attachment points to level (only one for horizontal axis wind turbines)
- Maintenance is made easier: the generator is at the foot of the AW wind turbine, therefore easily accessible. It requires no referral system or regulation, and the bearings are magnetic (AW 128)
- Investments are significantly reduced: it does not require civil engineering, the mast support is much shorter, no nacelle and gearbox (direct drive)
For equivalent investment, AW produce more kWh than its competitors!
